Welcome to South Hall!

Welcome to the newest, coolest, most environment-friendly community on campus! Maura and I hope you are loving South Hall as much as we are.

We want to make sure you are aware of the events that are occurring this week in the building:
  • Maura and Melissa's Munchkin Madness- On Monday (August 31) and Tuesday (September 1) at 9:15 am, Maura and I will be in the lobby giving out some delicious Dunkin Donuts Coffee and Munchkins to get you pumped and ready for the first couple of days of classes.
  • 3rd/4th Year Welcome Celebration- On Monday (August 31) from 1-3 pm, join GW Housing Programs, your House Mentors and other 3rd/4th year students in South Hall's courtyard for free food, good music and excellent company.
  • PostGrad- Maura and I will be taking ten students with us to see PostGrad on Tuesday evening (September 1). If you would like to join us, you must reserve your spot on the sign-in sheet on Maura's door.
  • South Hall Opening Ceremony- On Thursday (September 3) from 9-10:30 am, President Knapp and other university officials will be holding an opening ceremony for South Hall in the courtyard. RSVP is required for attendance; food will be provided.
  • H2OPENING- If you have not yet picked up your Nalgene bottle, please email Maura or myself to set up a time to do so. We will be delivering Brita filtration systems to each room in the coming weeks.
For most of you, Monday will be the last first day of classes of your undergraduate careers. Make the most of this year. Have fun, but make sure you take advantage of opportunities for growth along the way. Maura and I have both been in your shoes; we are happy to lend advice, or just listen. Begin to think about what you would like your life to look like after graduation. Remember, we each have unique gifts and talents to give. What will your contribution be?
